The brief for this luxury beachfront masterpiece was to design and construct a modern coastal home that would enhance the natural landscape rather than compete with it. It is an outstanding block surrounded by nature reserve with an protected green belt reserve between it and the beach. As you ascend upward through the home, your outlook changes from looking through the forest canopy, to over it and then finally skywards to the distinctive circular ‘lookout nest' where you capture the entire stretch of Sunshine Coast from Noosa Heads to Point Cartwright.
A standout architectural feature and feat of building prowess is the elaborately curved roof. This unique sweeping design is fabricated from individually engineered panels and painstakingly pieced together. It was only made possible through engaging the expertise of an ex-naval architect with the ability and know-how to transfer his talent for designing curved ship hulls onto this unusual structural design.
Understandably, this build won the Master Builders Sunshine Coast Housing and Construction Awards in 2012 for Best Use of Timber and The Alan Eichmann Memorial Award for Quality Workmanship.
